
Drive Complete Trade with 87ers

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - The Grand Rapids Drive, the NBA Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Delaware 87ers, the NBA Development League Affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.
The terms are that the Drive trade forward Sam Thompson in exchange for 87ers guard Gary Talton.
Talton (3/29/90), the 6-foot-1, 170-pound guard out of University of Illinois-Chicago was selected by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in Round 4 with Pick 16 in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft. In 2015, Talton showcased his talents during the NBA Summer League (Las Vegas) with the Toronto Raptors where he appeared in 5-contests (2-starts) averaging 6.0-points and 2.6- assists in 17.5-minutes per game. In Nov 2015, Talton was acquired by the Delaware 87ers from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in a trade. This season with 87ers, the 25-year-old NBA D-League veteran appeared in 23-contests (13-starts) averaging 7.4-points, 3.3-rebounds and 4.4-assists in 25.8-minutes per game.
Talton joins the Grand Rapids Drive and will wear jersey number 14.
Thompson (11/11/92), the 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward from Ohio State was selected seventh overall in the 2015 NBA Development League Draft by the Drive. During his stint, Thompson appeared in 16-contests (10-starts) averaging 5.0-points, 2.7-rebounds, and 1.1-assists in 26.4-minutes per game.
The Drive are on the road for their next contest against the Iowa Energy, the NBA D-League Affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies on Fri, Jan. 15 at 8 PM. The team will return home to the DeltaPlex Arena (#ProtectThePlex) for a three-game home stand (Jan 18, 22, and 25). The first of three games will be against the Maine Red Claws at 7 PM and will be BOGO Monday where it's buy a ticket get a ticket free.
