Iowa Wolves News Release
BISMARCK, ND, Mar. 17 2009 - In what will go down as one of the most exciting games in Iowa Energy history, Courtney Sims' turnaround jumper gave the Iowa Energy a one point lead with 10 seconds left as the Energy defeated Dakota 119-117 Tuesday night in Bismarck. The win gives Iowa a 1.5 game lead over Dakota in the NBA D-League's Central Division.
Sims, who spent time with the Phoenix Suns earlier this season, scored 34 points and grabbed 7 rebounds on the night. The 6'11" center made 15 of 20 field goal attempts on the night. Fellow Energy All-Star Othyus Jeffers scored 29 points for the Energy, who shot 61.9% from the field on the night.
Iowa trailed by as many as ten points in the 3rd quarter, and the lead changed hands five times in the final six minutes of the contest.
Dakota was led by Romel Beck and Blake Ahearn, who each scored 29 points in the loss. Dakota shot 55.9% from the field in the loss and made 11 of 20 three point field goals in the game.
The win also gives Iowa a potentially important tie-breaker over Dakota, having clinched the season series with one game remaining. The winner of the Central Division will host at least one playoff game this year.
The Energy play in Los Angeles on Thursday in game two of their five game road trip.
Iowa returns home on Saturday, March 28th at 7pm for "80's Night". Fans are encouraged to dress in their favorite 1980's attire and join the Energy for a fun night of hoops and entertainment. Tickets can be purchased by calling 515-462-2849 or visiting www.dahlstickets.com.
