
Energy Rally for Double OT Win over Tulsa 118-112

DES MOINES, IA March 4, 2013- The Iowa Energy rallied from a 102-94 deficit in the final 1:04 to score a dramatic double overtime victory over the Tulsa 66ers by a 118-112 margin.
Down eight with time running out, the Energy's Paul Harris sunk a pair of free throws. After an Andy Rautins turnover, Iowa's Chris Wright drilled a three-pointer from the wing with 38.7 seconds left to cut the lead to three at 102-99.
Tulsa's Rasual Butler had his shot blocked by Harris, but Butler stole the ball from Chris Wright, forcing Iowa to foul with 17.5 seconds remaining. Butler drilled both free throws, giving Tulsa what appeared to be an insurmountable lead at 104-99.
After a Chris Wright miss, Ben Strong scored on a putback with 12.5 seconds left to make the score 104-101.
On the ensuing throw-in, Butler threw the ball out of bounds, giving Iowa a glimmer of hope. With the clock running down, Chris Wright delivered with a running, one-foot three-pointer from the left baseline to tie the score at 104-104 with 7.7 seconds left. Tulsa had a chance to win in regulation, but Butler's three-pointer was off, sending the game to overtime.
The two Central Division rivals each scored three points in the first overtime, as Iowa's Ben Strong split a pair of free throws with 3.7 seconds left to force the second overtime.
The Energy dominated the second overtime, as a Alex Ruoff layup put the Energy up three with under 40 seconds left. Othyus Jeffers and Wright hit free throws to extend the lead before Strong iced the game with a free throw to make the final 118-112.
Jeffers led Iowa with 27 points and 12 rebounds while Wright finished with 24 points. Harris added a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Butler paced Tulsa with 30 points while grabbing 9 rebounds. Andy Rautins hit five three-pointers to add 19 points for the visitors.
