Eugene Emeralds News Release
Plenty of big-time names have come through Eugene on their way to the big leagues, and on July 6 the Emeralds honor one of the more highly-touted names currently bursting on to the Major League scene after playing in Eugene in 2015.
The first 1,000 fans that pass enter through the home plate gates on July 6 will receive an Eloy Jimenez bobblehead, courtesy of Pepsi, celebrating his time in Eugene.
Jimenez spent the entire 2015 season with the Emeralds, the organization's first season as a Chicago Cubs affiliate since 1999-2000. The Dominican Republic native batted .284 with 7 HR and 33 RBI in 57 games played with the Ems.
Since then, Jimenez has become a member of the Chicago White Sox organization after a blockbuster trade in 2017, and he's continued his rise through the Minor League ranks before making his MLB debut on Opening Day of this year. Jimenez is batting .251 with 13 HR (3rd on team) and 32 RBI (4th on team). After dealing with an early-season injury, Jimenez has started to find his groove of late batting .296 with 5 HR and 15 RBI over his last 15 games played.
Jimenez currently ranks in the top ten among rookies in HR (5th) and RBI (9th) despite having played in only 55 games.
The bobblehead is a limited-edition giveaway that is only available to the first 1,000 fans that pass through PK Park's home plate gates on July 6. Fans must present a valid game ticket to be eligible to receive a bobble-butt.
The Ems will be facing off against the Everett AquaSox on July 6 during what will be the only regular season home series against the AquaSox, a Minor League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
