Sacramento Republic FC News Release
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 10, 2015) - The Sacramento Republic FC broadcast of the 2014 USL Championship match won the Northern California Emmy for Best Sporting Game Live/Unedited. The match aired live on CW31, Republic FC's official broadcast partner, on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The broadcast was executive produced by Franklin Pictures, produced by Geoff Butler and directed by Mike Bird.
"This Emmy recognizes the amazing partnership between Republic FC, Franklin Pictures and CW31 along with the talented men and women, both behind and in front of the camera, that made this broadcast a reality," said Republic FC Vice President of Marketing and Communications Erika Bjork. "Republic FC's commitment to a championship-caliber team extends beyond the squad on the field. Our broadcast team did the unimaginable in less than a week, by taking the excitement and atmosphere of our matches, and bringing it to life in living rooms, pubs and watch parties."
The Republic FC broadcast was led by Franklin Pictures in collaboration with Republic FC, producer Geoff Butler and director Mike Bird. The Republic FC broadcast was one of three nominees, beating out broadcasts submitted by the Golden State Warriors (NBA) and San Jose Sharks (NHL). The Emmy award-winning broadcast may be viewed via Republic FC's YouTube page.
"It is such an honor to have received this award, and amongst such great company," said executive producer Rusty Prevatt of Franklin Pictures. "We are thankful to Sacramento Republic FC for placing their faith and their brand in our hands for such a special event. This was a team effort in the truest since of the phrase. It couldn't have happened without every single person invested and involved they way they were."
The broadcast, which was planned and produced in less than a week, averaged a 1.6 household rating and a 2.4 rating in the key male 18-34 demographic. Republic FC's 1.6 rating was better than two college football games that aired in the same time slot. The Notre Dame versus Syracuse game received a 1.5 rating and the Baylor versus Iowa State game had a 1.3 rating.
Republic FC will televise locally eight of their home matches this season. The matches will air live on either CW31 or CBS13, Republic FC's official TV partners. The next broadcast is Saturday, June 20 when Republic FC faces Oklahoma City Energy FC on CW31. Kickoff is 8:00 p.m. For a full TV broadcast schedule visit SacRepublicFC.com.
