Eugene Emeralds News Release
The Emeralds walked away with their first win of the series tonight against the Spokane Indians.
Mason Black started on the mound for Eugene tonight. He finished his five-inning performance with seven strikeouts, four hits, no walks, and one earned run.
Both Luis Matos and Luis Toribio kept their home run streak alive tonight, and each added a run to the board in the first two innings of the game.
Spokane jumped on the board in the third inning. Shortstop Julio Carreras singled on a fly ball to right field, and second-baseman Nic Kent crossed home plate.
The Indians scored their second and final run of the game in the sixth inning. Right-fielder Zac Veen scored on a passed ball by catcher Rodolfo Bone.
The Emeralds answered immediately in the bottom of the sixth. Vaun Brown hit his fifth home run of the season to make the score 3-2. Spokane's right-handed pitcher Shelby Lackey loaded the bases and walked in Eugene's fourth run.
Matt Olsen was awarded the win. He had two walks and one strikeout in his one-inning outing.
The Eugene Emeralds will look to keep this momentum alive with Wil Jensen on the mound. First pitch will take place tomorrow, July 15th, at 6:35 P.M P.T. The game will be available to watch on MiLB.TV.
