Elmira Jackals Game Preview
April 12, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - April 12, 2013 - An overtime setback in Game 3 has left the Jackals in a 2-1 hole in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Florida Everblades. Tonight, at First Arena, the Jackals look to tie the series at two games each and ensure the series will go back to Florida.
WHO: Elmira Jackals - Ottawa/NHL & Binghamton/AHL (40-25-7 regular season) vs. Florida Everblades - Carolina & Tampa Bay/NHL and Charlotte & Syracuse/AHL (39-22-11 regular season).
WHAT: Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Game 4. Florida leads series 2-1. Click here for tickets.
WHERE: First Arena - 155 N. Main St., Elmira, N.Y. 14901 . Radio Broadcast on WEHH AM 1600, FM 93.9, and online at www.1600wehh.com. Internet TV broadcast courtesy of America One.
WHEN: 7:05 p.m.
After splitting the first two games of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal in Florida, the Jackals dropped Game 3 at home on Friday night after leading 1-0 for most of the game. Goals 1:27 apart by Florida at the end of the third and start of overtime gave the Everblades a 2-1 series lead. Now the Jackals must win one of the next two games to send the series back to Florida for Game 6 and, potentially, Game 7. If the regular season is any indication, the Jackals should be in good position to rebound. They lost consecutive home games only twice during the second half of their home schedule and each time they did they responded with at least two wins in a row.
Jack Downing ranked fourth on the Jackals with 28 points (14G, 14A) in 34 games when he was called up to the Binghamton Senators on January 12 following the end of the NHL lockout. He responded with a goal and an assist over his first three games with the B-Sens and remained with the team for nearly three months. Now, back in Elmira, Downing will get his second taste of Kelly Cup playoff hockey. Last year, as a rookie, he potted one assist in four playoff games with the Jackals. His regular season point total was still strong enough to finish 11th on the club.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return home to host Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series on Friday, April 13 at 7:05 p.m. Get your tickets now by calling 607-734-7825, visiting the First Arena Box Office or ordering online.
