
Royals Sign Goaltender Max Strang to ATO

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Max Strang to an Amateur Tryout agreement. In another transaction undertaken today, the Royals placed goaltender Riley Gill on the team's ECHL Playoff Reserve.
Strang (6'2/211) (23), who hails from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, recently completed his senior season at Mercyhurst College, where he compiled a record of 12-10-3 with a 2.59 goals against average and a .921 save percentage and two shutouts in twenty-seven appearances with the Lakers. Strang, who was nominated for the 2013 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is bestowed annually on the NCAA's best hockey player, was selected as Mercyhurst's Most Valuable Player after the conclusion of the 2011-12 season.
The Royals take on the Greenville Road Warriors in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Sunday (April 14 @ 4:00 pm) at BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Sunday's game day broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru at 3:30 pm. As with all Royals' road games, Sunday's game will be televised live in Berks County, Pennsylvania on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations.
