August 21, 2012 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Fresh off their impressive 32-25 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday night, quarterback Joey Elliott and defensive end Alex Hall have been named the CFL's Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Elliott, making his first start of the 2012 season and only the third start of his three-year career, completed 33 of 43 passes for 406 yards and a touchdown, becoming the first Blue Bomber quarterback to throw for over 400 yards since 2009.
Hall, meanwhile, recorded one quarterback sack and two forced fumbles in the game, one of which snuffed out a Hamilton touchdown as he stripped quarterback Henry Burris at the one-yard line. The sack now gives him four for the year, which ties him for third place in the CFL.
Elliott and Hall's awards join that of kicker Justin Palardy who was named Special Teams Player of the Week for week four.
