FORT MILL, S.C. - August 26, 2008 - Charlotte Knights infielders Brad Eldred and Chris Getz have made the International League Postseason All-Star team. Eldred was selected to the designated hitter position and Getz to the utility player position.

Eldred, 28, is having a career year as he currently leads the IL in home runs with 35 and RBI's with 100. Eldred was also selected to the IL All-Star game, but was unable to play due to injury. Eldred missed a month of the season due to a fractured wrist. The slugging first baseman is closing in on the Knights single season home run record, as he is three away from matching the 38 hit by Sam Horn in 1993. This is the second time Eldred has been named to a postseason All-Star team.

Getz, who turns 25 on Saturday, was selected as the IL's top utility player for 2008. He has split time between second base, shortstop, third base, and the outfield in his first season above the Double-A level. Getz has also done a little bit of everything offensively, hitting .306 (7th in the IL) while posting career-highs in home runs (11) and RBI (51). He has also stolen 11 bases. This is just one of many honors Getz has received this season. Getz was already selected to the IL mid-season All-Star team and played for the U.S. in the MLB Futures Game. He also made his major league debut with the White Sox on August 12th.

This is the first time the Knights have received postseason honors since the 2006 season, when Josh Fields was named the top third baseman, Heath Phillips the top starting pitcher, and Jorge Velandia the top shortstop.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
