Eight Checkers Players Participate At American Hockey League Camps

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers will be well represented at American Hockey League training camps this week.

The five Checkers players scheduled to join the Hartford Wolf Pack training camp include: Kaleb Betts, Chris Capraro, Shawn Vinz, Neil Poulsen and Mike Hartwick.

The Checkers also announced that Jared Nightingale will attend the Manchester Monarchs camp, Matt Waddell will attend the Milwaukee Admirals camp and Kenny Smith will attend the Providence Bruins camp.

Checkers general manager and head coach, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that forward, Ryan Gibbons, will not participate in Charlotte's training camp due to injury.

The Checkers enter their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL in October 2007. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
