Edmonton Elks News Release
( Edmonton ) The Edmonton Eskimos will host the Calgary Stampeders in the 2011 CFL West Semi-Final on Sunday, November 13 at Commonwealth Stadium. Kickoff at 2:30pm MTN.
The Esks clinched a home playoff game Friday with a 23-20 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders to finish the regular season 11 - 7. Edmonton finished with an identical record to BC, who defeated Montreal 43 - 1 Saturday, but BC secures first place by having won the season series with the Esks.
Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says "From Day 1 we stated the significance of earning a home playoff game because it would send the right message to our fans about the direction this organization was heading. The proud Eskimo fans are eager to embrace a winner again, but there is no time to celebrate. We'll face a well coached, veteran laden and talented Calgary team that has lots of playoff experience".
It's the first time since 2004 that the Esks have hosted a post-season game.
Eskimo Head Coach Kavis Reed says "we set our goals high this year but there's still a lot of work ahead for this team. Eskimo fans deserve a winner and we're counting on them to be loud and proud at Commonwealth Stadium next Sunday".
