Edmonton Powers past Hitmen 7-3

Calgary, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings scored six power play goals, five in the first period, en route to a 7-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

It was Fan Appreciation Day presented by Vision Travel with over 200 giveaways including the grand prize of a `Seven-night all-inclusive trip for two to the BlueBay Grand Esmeralda in Cancun, Mexico'.

Tomas Soustal and Matthew Robertson netted a pair of goals to lead the Oil Kings with Trey Fix-Wolansky, Brett Kemp and Colton Kehler adding singles.

Riley Stotts, Cael Zimmerman and Egor Zamula replied for Calgary who trailed 5-2 after the opening frame and 6-2 through 40 minutes.

The Hitmen outshot Edmonton 37-26 but special teams proved to be the deciding factor. The Oil Kings finished 6-7 on the power play while Calgary went 2-6.

It was the regular season finale for both teams who will miss the playoffs and now turn their attention to the Wednesday, March 21, Western Hockey League Bantam Draft Lottery.
