
Prince George Cougars Hand out 2017-18 Awards

PRINCE GEORGE, BC -The Third Annual Prince George Cougars Awards Banquet and Brunch took place on Sunday afternoon at the Prince George Civic Centre. Over 300 fans, parents, billets, volunteers and Cougars representatives gathered to celebrate the 2017-18 regular season filled with many individual milestones and accomplishments.
After a wonderful meal, Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins and Vice President, Business Andy Beesley each took turns addressing the crowd and highlighting the eventful 2017-18 regular season.
Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall, was also on hand, as he spoke on behalf of the City of Prince George.
19-year-old players Tavin Grant, Joel Lakusta and Josh Curtis were presented with personalized plaques commemorating their 19-year-old seasons in Prince George, and 20-year-old's Jared Bethune, Aaron Boyd and Brogan O'Brien each received a game-worn jersey as a keepsake for their time in Prince George.
General Manager Todd Harkins and Head Coach Richard Matvichuk also handed out plaques to a handful of Prince George Cougars players recognizing first WHL goals, first hat-tricks, first wins and first shutouts.
Then it was time for the individual awards which were presented in the following order:

DR. JEFF ZORN AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE: Matthew Mosher
CHRIS MASON AWARD FOR MOST 3-STARS SELECTIONS: Jared Bethune
DOROTHY JOHNSON MEMORIAL AWARD (VOTED BY THE FANS): Brogan O'Brien
FAN CLUB BURSUARY WINNER: Jared Bethune
SPIRIT OF THE NORTH HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION HUMANITARIAN AWARD: Chance Adrian
TROY BOURKE AWARD FOR BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD: Josh Maser
ERIC BREWER AWARD FOR BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD: Joel Lakusta
MICHAEL FOGOLIN MEMORIAL AWARD (VOTED BY THE PLAYERS): Josh Curtis
DAN HAMHUIS AWARD FOR TEAM MVP: Jared Bethune
