ICE Announce Seven Year-End Award Winners Prior to Saturday's Game

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club announced its remaining seven regular season player year-end award winners prior to their game against the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday.
Below is a list of the award winners:
ROD HUNTER LTD. PLAYERS AWARD - ALEC BAER
This award - voted on by the players - goes to the individual that was deemed to be the team's best player this season. After tallying the votes, it has been determined that '97-born forward Alec Baer is the player's choice for top player on the team.
Baer has been one of the team's top offensive threats all season. The St. Louis Park, Minnesota native finished the season with 61 points (30G, 31A) in 72 games.
APOLLO RISTORANTE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - BRETT DAVIS, COLTON KROEKER
An MVP award goes to the player deemed to be the most valuable on his team throughout the course of a season. The award has been given to '99-born forward Brett Davis and '97-born forward Colton Kroeker.
Davis - a 2017 Dallas Stars' draft pick - registered 25 goals and 33 assists for 58 points in 72 games this season. His tallies for goals, assists and points are all single season career highs. The Oakbank, MB native finished the 2017-18 campaign third in team scoring.
Kroeker has been one of the top offensive threats for the ICE all season. The Surrey, BC native finished with 15 goals and 46 assists for 61 points in 68 games. Kroeker set a single season career high in assists this season.
DIXON'S SERVICE CENTRE TOP DEFENCEMAN - MARTIN BODAK
This award goes to the team's best and most consistent defenceman throughout the course of a season.
Martin Bodak - a 2017 selection in the CHL Import Draft - played in 59 games with the ICE this season. In his first year in the WHL, the Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia native logged significant minutes for his team, while registering seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points.
The '99-born defenceman also represented his country at the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, New York.
DENHAM FORD ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - PEYTON KREBS
This award goes to the best and most consistent first-year player on the team.
Peyton Krebs has been one of the top point producers for the ICE, and finished the season atop the WHL rookie scoring charts with 54 points. The Okotoks, Alberta native registered 17 goals and 37 assists in 67 games this season.
The '01-born forward was named the WHL Rookie of the Month for December. Krebs also captured a silver medal with Team Canada Red at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in November.
SKYWAY DISTRIBUTORS MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - CAM HAUSINGER
This award goes to the player who demonstrated the greatest amount of improvement in his game from the year before.
Cam Hausinger set single season career highs in goals (21), assists (22), points (43) and games played (70). The Anchorage, Alaska native proved to be a versatile player this season, playing in multiple roles throughout the lineup.
BDO CANADA LLP MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER - COLTON VELOSO
This award goes to the player who's not normally recognized for his work ethic and skill level but consistently proves to be a vital part of the team's success.
Colton Veloso proved to be a steady contributor to the ICE offense this season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native recorded 25 goals, 22 assists and 47 points in 71 games. His totals for goals, assists and points were all single season career highs.
Veloso was a consistent contributor on the top two lines and also played a significant role on the power play.
EKCC COMMUNITY RELATIONS AWARD - DALLAS HINES
This award goes to the player who best dedicated his time and effort to the community through various community programs put on by the organization and otherwise.
Dallas Hines always showed tremendous enthusiasm when afforded the opportunity to take part in community initiatives. The Marwayne, Alberta native took part in Reading with the ICE, the CHCA Fashion Show and Silent Auction, minor hockey practices and other community programs.
The '98-born defenceman has played in 59 games with the ICE this season. Hines has registered four goals and 15 assists for 19 points.
