Edmonton, AB - The First Annual Toyota Teddy Bear Toss Night is set for Rexall place January 20th when the Edmonton Oil Kings host the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Fans are invited to bring truck loads of new teddy bears to toss onto the ice as soon as the Edmonton Oil Kings score their first goal. All the teddy bears collected will be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital and also distributed throughout the Capital Health Region.

"Teddy bears are a symbol of comfort for all children. This is more evident for sick children," said Dawn Wrightson, Senior Operating Officer of the Stollery Children's Hospital. "We're grateful to the Oil Kings and their fans who can help us share this comfort with children throughout our region through their participation in the Teddy Bear Toss."

The record for bears thrown onto the ice is over 26,000 set by the Calgary Hitmen earlier this year.

"Teddy Bear Toss nights have become a staple throughout junior and minor hockey league markets across North America." said Oil Kings Nick Wilson. "We're excited to introduce this hockey market to what's become a promotional phenomenon in some circles and eventually one day, we'd like to outdo our counterparts to the south."
