San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Edinburg Roadrunners snapped the San Angelo Colts' seven-game winning streak by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday night at Foster Field. Edinburg won game one, 5-4, and took game two, 7-3.

The Roadrunners trailed 3-1 after four innings in game one, but then went on to outscore the Colts 4-1 the rest of the way.

Edinburg tied the game at three with two unearned runs in the fifth. Shortstop Michael Haynes and second baseman Jordan Etier both scored as a result of two errors, and an RBI sacrifice bunt by first baseman Cameron Dullnig.

The Colts regained the lead in the fifth when first baseman Steve Rinaudo hit a leadoff homer. It was his team-best 10th home run of the season. However, Edinburg tied the game in the seventh, and then won it in extras.

Right fielder Tim Battle scored the tying run on a wild pitch, forcing extra innings. Dullnig led off the eighth with a double and scored on third baseman Travis Clark's RBI single.

Colts' rookie reliever Scott Hartling (0-1) gave up the go-ahead run, and therefore took the loss. Edinburg starter Ryan Zimmerman (4-3) got the win. He allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits in seven innings. Closer Alex Schmarzo pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth for his fifth save of the year.

The Roadrunners never trailed in game two, and managed to pull away late. Edinburg led 2-1 after the third, and then scored five runs from the fourth through the sixth inning.

San Angelo cut its deficit down to one run at 4-3 in the fifth. Shortstop Jordan Marks homered and Rinaudo scored on an RBI single by centerfielder Joseph Hicks. For Marks, it was his sixth home run of the year.

Edinburg responded with three runs in the sixth to close the door on San Angelo. Colts' starter Derek Vaughn (0-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs, four earned, on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Edinburg starter Cullen Babin (4-1) allowed three runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 for the win.
