Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers right-handed starter Edgar De La Rosa was named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week today. The FSL selection was for the period of April 18 "" May 4.
De La Rosa started one game against the Daytona Cubs on April 29. He pitched seven shutout innings and picked up his first win of the season. He gave up only one hit, walked three, and struck out eight batters. In 35.2 innings pitched this season, De La Rosa has allowed only 22 hits while striking out 28 batters.
This is De La Rosa's sixth professional season. He was signed by the Tigers as a non-drafted free agent on February 11, 2009 and resides in El Seibo in the Dominican Republic.
