Wilson Tobs News Release
EDENTON, N.C. - Edenton pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th inning on Wednesday night's contest to edge the Wilson Tobs 6-5 at Historic Hicks Field.
Edenton (10-1) loaded the bases in its half of the 10th against Zach Merciez (L, 0-1) on a double and a pair of walks before Alex Kelly lofted a base hit to right field to score Michael Camporeale and lift the Steamers to a 6-5 victory.
Wilson (5-9) entered the sixth down by a run (5-4) and came back to even the score as Harry Slade legged out an infield single to score Andrew Istler who singled to begin in the frame. The Tobs had a chance to take the lead later in the inning - however Slade was thrown out trying to score on a Joe Costigan single but the game remained even until the Steamers won it in the 10th.
Trailing by a run in the fifth, Edenton used a couple of hits to regain the lead with a pair of runs on a Nathan Burns groundout and a Spencer Branigan single put the Steamers ahead 5-4.
Wilson broke a three all tie in the fifth inning when Aaron Rea roped a two-out single up the middle to bring Costigan home and give the Tobs a 4-3 advantage before the Steamers came storming back.
The Tobs return to Fleming Stadium on tomorrow night at 7:05 as the Peninsula Pilots return to Historic Fleming Stadium.
