Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The East Coast Hockey League announced on Tuesday suspensions for an off-ice altercation that happened with 10:31 remaining in the third period of Louisiana's 4-1 win over Greenville on Sunday at the Canjundome.

ALEXANDRE BURROWS was suspended for one game, and DAVID KACZOWKA was suspended for two games for their roles in that altercation. Both players were also fined an undisclosed amount, while the Greenville Grrrowl Hockey Club was served a $500 fine. Burrows will serve his one game suspension on Friday when the Grrrowl travel to Columbus. Kaczowka will serve two games starting on Saturday.

"I certainly do not condone that kind of behavior and I'm sure (Louisiana Head Coach) Dave Farrish would agree", said Grrrowl VP of Hockey Operations and Head Coach JOHN MARKS. " Hopefully this will be a learning experience for our team. If it happens again, it won't be just the league that registers fines and suspensions. I will also take disciplinary action because there's no room for this in the game."

In an unrelated roster move, Marks also announced that veteran defenseman RICK EMMETT cleared waivers at 11:00 AM Tuesday. Emmett is now a free agent eligible to sign with any team interested in his services. The Toronto, Ontario native recorded 2 goals, 5 assists, 7 points and 14 PIM's in 11 games with Greenville this season. The Grrrowl open a home and home series with the Southeast Division rival Columbus Cottonmouths at the Civic Center Friday night (7:05 EST, Newsradio 1330 & 950 WORD).

Saturday is Scout Night as the Grrrowl host Columbus at 7:05 PM. Tickets for all Grrrowl home games are on sale at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. For more information log onto www.grrrowl.com.
