November 12, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
The Baton Rouge Kingfish have acquired forward Curtis Valentine in a trade with the Charlotte Checkers in exchange for cash.
Valentine began the season with the Louisiana IceGators where he played in one game before being traded to Charlotte on October 15th.
In 9 games this season with the Checkers, the 6'5", 190-pound left wing tallied two goals and two assists.
"He's not a flashy guy," said Kingfish head coach Cam Brown, "but he makes the smart play and gets the job done."
Valentine split time last season with the Pee Dee Pride and the New Orleans Brass where he accumulated 22 points in 56 games.
"Curtis gives us another experienced penalty killer," said Brown, "and he's a guy with good hockey sense."
The Gansevoort, New York native was selected by Vancouver Canucks in the 8th round, #219 overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
