Bakersfield, Calif. â With last night's 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game Skills Competition in the books, Andrew Ianiero and the rest of the West will be looking for some revenge. The Eastern Conference edged the Western Conference 11-10 in the Skills Competition last night in front of 6,169 fans. The game will take place tonight, from Carver Arena in Peoria, IL at 5:30pm Pacific Time.
The All-Star Game will be carried live on the Condors flagship station, KGEO AM 1230. Tune in at 5:00 for a special Condors pregame show prior to the live broadcast, which starts at 5:15. The "Voice of the Condors", Kevin Bartl, along with Puck from KGEO will count down to the drop of the puck. The game can also be heard and seen live online at www.echl.com.
Ianiero is the Condors lone representative at the mid-season competition. He is currently second on the team in scoring with 28 points in 30 games, all of which have come in the 27 games he has played for Bakersfield. Ianiero competed in two events last night. He helped the West defeat the East in the Rapid Fire Competition, teaming up with John Snowden of Texas and netting three goals on 10 shots, which was tied for the top performance of any pairing. Ianiero was stopped by Johnstown G Cory Campbell in the Breakaway Relay in his other event.
In other Skills Competition highlights, the fastest skater in the league was C Kevin Spiewak, from the South Carolina Stingrays, making a full lap in just 14.166 seconds. Louisiana Ice Gators D Ben Storey recorded the hardest shot at 96.3 m.p.h. Mississippi Sea Wolves winger Steffon Walby won the Accuracy Shooting contest, hitting four targets on eight shots and Louisiana's Fredric Cloutier was named the competition's outstanding goaltender.
