Trenton Thunder third baseman/outfielder Ronnier Mustelier has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 30th-May 6th. Mustelier, who is a native of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, hit a home run in all four games he played in last week. Among those four home runs were two game-winning ninth inning homers against Portland on April 30th and May 3rd. The 27-year old was rewarded for his performance with a promotion to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, where he went 2-for-5 with a run scored in his Triple-A debut on Saturday night against Pawtucket. Mustelier led all Eastern League players in home runs (4), slugging percentage (1.188) and OPS (1.714) last week and also finished among the weekly league leaders in batting average (.438-2nd), RBI (8-tied 2nd), on-base percentage (.526-3rd) and runs scored (7-tied 3rd). Ronnier, who currently leads the Eastern League in total bases (61) and is also ranked second in slugging percentage (.598) and OPS (1.010), was signed by the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on June 7, 2011.

Steven Wright, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Akron Aeros, has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 30th-May 6th. The 27-year old made two appearances for the Aeros last week and had a record of 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched. Wright, who is a native of Torrance, California, made his first start of the week on Monday night against the visiting Binghamton Mets and took a no-decision despite giving up just one run on six hits while striking out five and walking three over 6.1 innings of work. The 6'1", 200 lb. hurler was even more impressive in his second appearance of the week on Sunday afternoon at Bowie, striking out six and walking two while throwing a complete game, five-hit shutout to lead Akron to a 5-0 victory. Wright ranked second among all Eastern League pitchers in innings pitched last week and was sixth in strikeouts and eighth in ERA. For the season he has a record of 3-1 and is ranked third in the league in ERA (1.13) and strikeouts (35). Steven, who has allowed one earned run or less and struck out five batters or more in all six of his starts for the Aeros this season, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the second round of the 2006 draft after going 11-2 with a 2.30 ERA as a junior at the University of Hawaii.
