Reading Fightin Phils News Release

FirstEnergy Stadium – Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania (ESEP) has set June 12 as the date for the FirstEnergy Foundation Office Olympix 2003. This will be the seventh consecutive year FirstEnergy Stadium, the home of the Reading Phillies, has served as host to the event which began in 1988. The games will start at 6 PM and run until approximately 9 PM. Registration takes place starting at 5 PM outside the ballpark's main entrance.

The event offers a chance for co-workers to build teamwork in a laid back atmosphere. Food and beverages are available all evening long at normal game day prices, with proceeds going to the Easter Seals. Spectators are invited to come support their friends and co-workers.

The Office Olympix consists of eight events in which teams of four compete in friendly games designed for all skill levels. Berks County businesses sponsor and fill the majority of the rosters, but teams of friends or families can also participate.

This year's competitions will be the Hula Hoop Relay, Office Supply Relay, Golf Chipping, Sling Shot, Easter Seals Wheelchair Relay, Baseball Smash, Frisbee Toss and Pool Basketball. The top three teams in the overall standings are awarded prizes.

Team registration is $250 and team members are encouraged to raise extra money by securing pledges. The top fundraising team wins a limousine ride and lunch. Any team that raises $100 or more beyond their entry fee is entered in a raffle to win a pool party at a Reading Phillies game.

In 15 years, the Office Olympix has raised close to $325,000 for Easter Seals. The goal for 2003 is to raise $35,000. Money raised benefits the Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania, which provides quality, comprehensive programs and services to 2,700 children and adults with disabilities and special needs in Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike and Schuylkill Counties.
