San Jose Earthquakes News Release
The San Jose Earthquakes announced last week that midfielders Eric Calvillo, Gilbert Fuentes and Judson have all been signed to new multi-year contracts. Judson, who spent the 2019 season on loan with San Jose, was transferred permanently to the Quakes.
RENO 1868 FC UPDATE
Reno 1868 FC plans to unveil club-selected award winners throughout the week. 1868 FC announced Monday that midfielder Sam Gleadle has been named Young Player of the Year. Gleadle, 23, recorded five goals and four assists in 2019, and was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week twice (Weeks 15 and 18).
ACADEMY UPDATE
The San Jose Earthquakes Boys' Academy were in Irvine, Calif. to compete in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy's West Regionals Showcase. In weekend fixtures against the LA Galaxy, the Portland Timbers, LAFC, Strikers FC, FC Golden State and Pateadores, the U-13s and U-14s earned a combined record of 4-2-0
On Friday, the U-13s fell to the LA Galaxy (3-2) and LAFC (4-0). The U-13s then went unbeaten on Saturday, earning victories over Strikers FC (2-1) and FC Golden State (5-1).
The U-14s added two more Showcase victories for the Quakes Boys' Academy on Sunday, recording shutout victories over the LA Galaxy (2-0) and Strikers FC (2-0). The U-14s faced the Portland Timbers earlier today and tied 1-1. The U-14s then capped off their West Regional Showcase with a 1-0 win over Pateadores.
On Saturday, the U-15s (2-0), U-17s (3-1) and U-19s (3-2) each earned victories over Vancouver Whitecaps FC in regular-season play. On Sunday, the U-15s and U-17s hosted Crossfire Premier at Avaya Stadium, with the U-15s earning a 1-0 victory and the U-17s tying 1-1.
Next weekend, the Boys continue regular-season play in matchups versus Ballistic United Soccer Club and the LA Galaxy. Details on the Boys' Academy full season schedule can be accessed here.
The Girls' Academy faced Lamorinda Soccer Club on Saturday and the Reign Academy on Sunday.
In matchups against Lamorinda Soccer Club, the U-14s and U-16s both recorded 4-1 victories. The U-19s earned a 7-0 shutout victory, U-15s tied 2-2 and the U-17s fell 2-0.
The Girls outscored the Reign Academy 16-2 as a collective on Sunday. The U-14s, U-15s and U-16s recorded lopsided victories of 6-1, 3-0 and 7-1, respectively. The U-17s lost 4-1 and the U-19s won 1-0.
The Girls Academy do not have any scheduled matches for the upcoming weekend. They resume their regular-season schedule on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they take on the San Diego Surf.
