The San Jose Earthquakes announced last Wednesday the schedule and broadcast details for group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament, kicking off July 8 in Orlando, Fla. The Quakes will take on the defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC on Friday, July 10 (7:30 p.m. PT; ESPN), presented by Intermedia, before facing Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday, July 15 (7:30 p.m. PT; TUDN) and FC Dallas on Monday, July 20 (5 p.m. PT; TUDN).

San Jose became the first team to arrive at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and Hotel, where they are now capable of training as a full team for the first time since March.

RENO 1868 FC UPDATE

The USL Championship announced last Thursday the four Western Conference groups that will battle for a place in the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs when the league returns on Saturday, July 11. Reno 1868 FC was drawn into Group A, where they will face Portland Timbers 2, Sacramento Republic FC, and Tacoma Defiance.

The USL Championship announced last Wednesday an updated format for the remainder of the 2020 season that will see clubs divided into eight groups to complete a 16-game regular season followed by a single-elimination playoff. To find out more, click here .

The USL Championship Task Force announced on June 22 that the current training moratorium will be lifted starting Wednesday, June 24, paving the way for a return to full-squad training. Reno restarted full-team training last week, becoming the first Northern Nevada team at any major level to return to action following the statewide sports shutdown.

ACADEMY UPDATE

Major League Soccer announced on May 13 that 65 former U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs will join the League's existing club academies, including the Quakes Academy, to create a partnership that will transform youth player development in the United States and Canada.

San Jose is one of seven teams based in the Bay Area joining MLS's elite player development platform, alongside Ballistic United (Pleasanton), Silicon Valley Soccer Academy (Redwood City), Santa Cruz Breakers Academy (Santa Cruz), De Anza Force (Cupertino), SF Glens and SF Elite (San Francisco). More information about the competition structure as well as the platform's official brand will be announced at a later date.
