
Atlanta United Announces Roster Moves

ATLANTA - Atlanta United today announced two roster moves ahead of MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando next month. Jon Gallagher has returned to the club after being on loan with Aberdeen FC, while Manuel Castro's loan from Club Estudiantes de La Plata has been extended through the end of the 2020 season.
Gallagher, 24, initially joined Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen on loan in June of 2019 until the end of the 2019 MLS season. However, in January 2020, his loan was extended until the end of Aberdeen's 2019-20 season. Gallagher made 33 appearances for Aberdeen across all competitions. He made 22 league appearances and scored one goal in a 2-2 draw against Rangers FC on December 4, 2019. Gallagher also appeared in six Europa League matches and recorded three assists. He was selected by Atlanta with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. Although, he has yet to make his MLS debut, Gallagher has combined to appear in 38 career matches with 35 starts and seven goals in two seasons with ATL UTD 2.
Castro, 24, joined Atlanta United from Estudiantes of the Argentina Primera Division on Feb. 12 for a loan originally through the end of June. That loan has been extended through the end of the calendar year. Castro made his debut in the club's last match on March 11 against Club America in the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, coming on for Mattheus Rossetto in the 58th minute.
Atlanta United will return to play at MLS is Back Tournament, starting July 8 in Orlando. The club was placed in Group E alongside FC Cincinnati, New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew SC, with its first match scheduled for Saturday, July 11 against Red Bulls (8:00 p.m. EST, FOX).
