San Jose Earthquakes News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes today announced that the club will play two closed-door preseason friendlies at Earthquakes Stadium ahead of the team's 2021 season opener at Houston Dynamo FC on April 16. The Quakes will face Sacramento Republic FC on Friday, April 2 and Oakland Roots SC on Friday, April 9. Both Sacramento and Oakland compete in the USL Championship, the second tier of American soccer.

In addition to helping the team prepare for the upcoming regular season, the two matches will also allow the Quakes to break in their newly installed SISGrass hybrid field. The pristine pitch is 95% natural grass and 5% artificial fiber, designed to increase stability, reduce surface damage and improve recovery time between events, while also faring better in poor weather conditions such as heavy rain and heat waves.

After playing at Houston on April 16, the Quakes will host FC Dallas in their home opener on Saturday, April 24.
