San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that their game on Saturday, June 30 against the LA Galaxy, presented by XFINITY, is sold out. The capacity of Stanford Stadium is 50,000 and this marks the first time in team history that a game has sold out prior to the day of the match.
Fans attending the match will be treated to the sporting event of the summer. Prior to the match, the Epicenter Fan Zone will feature live music, including a performance by the 300th Army Band, gourmet food trucks and the debut of the "Unleash Your Passion" booth. At the booth, fans will show their Quakes passion by donning team gear, face and body paint, and additional Quakes merchandise. A professional photographer will be on hand to document the experience with photos to be posted on the club's Facebook page.
The Epicenter will also include an impressive activation area, presented by Lowe's, that will include an interactive vehicle with Xbox gaming and a caged soccer kicking game. 7UP Bottling Company will provide sampling of Sun Drop and Jamba Juice will be on site selling smoothies. XFINITY and Farmers Insurance will hold "enter to win" contests, while Wells Fargo, Los Gatos Roofing, Farm Fresh To You and Bay Area Self Storage will also have booths.
Fans will also have the opportunity to view large images of the newly added club seats for the Earthquakes' new stadium. The New Stadium Sales Center will have brochures and additional information on club seats.
The Epicenter Fan Zone is located next to the Stanford Track and Field Stadium across from Gate 2.
Prior to kickoff in the stadium, fans will be treated to a flyover in addition to skydivers who will present the game ball. At the helm of the halftime show is renowned firm Patrick Roberge Productions, creators of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The display will honor members of each of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces as part of a grand Independence Day celebration. In addition to the halftime spectacle, the Earthquakes and BAE Systems donated 700 tickets to troops and their families to attend the match.
For a second consecutive year, the match will also feature a fireworks extravaganza following the final whistle. The sky will light up for 15 minutes with a synchronized show produced by Pyro Spectaculars by Souza, Inc.
San Jose is looking to win its second straight against the defending MLS Cup champions. The first round of the California Clasico on May 23 at The Home Depot Center ended in dramatic fashion with Alan Gordon scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time to cap a 3-2 comeback Earthquakes win.
