Earthquakes Forward Cristian Espinoza Selected to 2023 MLS All-Star Roster

SAN JOSE, Calif. -San Jose Earthquakes forward Cristian Espinoza is among 26 players selected to the 2023 Major League Soccer All-Star Roster. Espinoza was chosen by All-Star head coach Wayne Rooney, earning his first trip to the MLS All-Star game after five seasons with the Earthquakes, a span that's seen him score 23 goals and record 50 assists across 139 appearances.

Espinoza, 28, has been a driving force in San Jose's strong start this season, recording a career-high eight goals and adding six assists in 20 regular season matches in 2023. He is one of only nine players in MLS with at least 35 goal contributions since the start of the 2022 season, and one of only four with at least 20 assists over the same span. In April, Espinoza led San Jose to a 2-1-2 record that month, tallying five goals and one assist to earn the MLS Player of the Month honor. He most recently tallied his 50th career assist, ranking him tied for first with Shea Salinas for most assists in club history.

The 2023 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target will be played on Wednesday, July 19, and feature the MLS All-Stars taking on Arsenal FC, the renowned 13-time English league champions, at Audi Field, home of D.C. United. The roster was selected through a combination of fan, player, and media voting (12 players), designations by All-Star head coach Wayne Rooney of host club D.C. United (12 players), and a pair of selections by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
