
Earthquakes Earn a 1-0 Victory Over Chivas USA

CARSON, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes earned a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA on Wednesday morning at the University Field 2 at The Home Depot Center. Cam Weaver scored the lone goal to give San Jose the victory.
In an intense and physical match, San Jose took the lead in the seventh minute when Arturo Alvarez rounded the Chivas USA defense and played a low cross into the middle, where Weaver finished from six yards out.
In the final ten minutes Chivas USA had a few opportunities to tie the game but Joe Cannon made several saves to preserve the shutout.
The Earthquakes are 5-1 in preseason. San Jose will play against Loyola Marymount on Friday, March 6 before returning to the Bay Area that day.
