Real Salt Lake Signs Rookie MF Raphael Cox

Real Salt Lake continued to solidify its 2009 roster today, as the Utah club has announced the signing of rookie MF Raphael Cox to a Senior roster contract. The 22-year-old Cox was one of two fourth round selections by RSL in January's MLS SuperDraft (54th overall), joining the pro ranks after a standout senior season at the University of Washington. Cox tallied 14 goals and 17 assists in 59 games during in his three seasons with the Huskies and was a two-time All-PAC 10 performer, including a First-Team nod in 2008 after scoring seven goals and six assists last fall.

RSL Waives Three, Grabs MF Ned Grabavoy from Tuesday's MLS Waiver Draft

Real Salt Lake added a veteran piece to its roster on Tuesday by selecting MF Ned Grabavoy in the MLS Waiver Draft, while also waiving a trio of players - DF Nik Besagno, MF Kevin Reiman, and D/M Brennan Tennelle. The 25-year-old Grabavoy comes to Real Salt Lake from the San Jose Earthquakes, where he started 21 of his 24 appearances for the expansion side in 2008, notching four assists along the way. The Indiana University product began his now 94-game MLS career (5 goals/14 assists) with Los Angeles in 2004 - when he started in all four Galaxy playoff contests in helping the side win that year's MLS Cup - before being traded to Columbus in 2006 and then acquired by the Earthquakes in last year's 2007 Expansion Draft.
