
Earthquakes Announce Tournament Partnership

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they have signed a tournament partnership with the Fresh Coast Beach Soccer Championships. This year, the 5-on-5 tournament will be held on June 18 and 19 in front of the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California.
The Beach Soccer Championship returns in 2011 for its third year on the beaches of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Divisions include: Boys and Girls Under-9 through Under-19, collegiate, adult co-ed, open women's, women's 40-plus, open men's, men's 40-plus and a cash-prize division for men's open. The winner of the men's cash bracket will take home $2,000.
Matches consist of three 12-minute periods with four players on the field plus one goalkeeper. Each team is guaranteed three games and up to two more based on performance. The tournament encourages participation by both competitive and recreational teams.
The San Jose Earthquakes will be providing each team that registers for the Santa Cruz Beach Soccer Championships with 10 ticket vouchers to see the team take on either the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 2 at Stanford Stadium or Philadelphia Union on Saturday, July 9. Several Earthquakes players will also make an appearance at the competition to meet with fans, sign autographs and take photographs.
