Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (0-1, 16-23) could not recover after a tough start on Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost 15-4 to the Spokane Indians (1-0, 23-16). The Dust Devils surrendered ten runs in the first innings to give Spokane a lead they would not surrender.
Jonny Homza and Kelvin Melean had standout nights at the plate for Tri-City, with each producing three hits in the loss. In addition to his three hits, a walk allowed Homza to reach base in all four of his plate appearances. Infielder Kelvin Alarcon's versatility was on display in the late innings. With the Dust Devils short on bullpen arms Alarcon pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the ninth inning, retiring all three batters he faced in order.
Tri-City will look to bounce back tomorrow night in the middle game of the three-game series. Left-hander Jason Blanchard is set to start for the Dust Devils. The Indians will counter with right-hander Leury Tejada.
It will be 80's Night at Gesa Stadium on Wednesday. Make sure to dress up in your best 80's gear for your chance to win a prize! Great seats are available by calling the team's office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
