(Binghamton, NY) - Binghamton sent 12 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the second inning en route to a 12-3 victory over the Trenton Thunder Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. Top prospect Zack Wheeler (3-2) allowed a first-inning two-run home run to Cody Johnson, but then threw six straight scoreless innings in the Mets' victory.

Johnson's early long ball, his league-high-matching ninth and third in his last four games, but the Thunder ahead 2-0. But Binghamton responded against Cory Arbiso (1-1) by recording six hits in the marathon second inning including Travis Ozga's three-run home run.

Two Trenton errors, including a two-run throwing error on the pitcher Arbiso, contributed to the Mets rally and made six of the nine runs unearned. Ozga recorded two of the six hits in the frame.

Jefry Marte also homered for Binghamton. Seven of the Mets' nine starters recorded multi-hit games, as Binghamton collected 15 hits on the night. Kevin Mahoney knocked an RBI single in the ninth inning to extend his current league-best on-base streak to 24 straight games.

Trenton next heads to Manchester, New Hampshire for its fourth series of the season against the defending league champion Fisher Cats. Game one will be Friday night with first pitch slated for 7:05 pm at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Trenton has yet to announce a starting pitcher for the contest, while righty Yohan Pino (3-0) will pitch for New Hampshire. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:50 pm.
