Early Lead Erased in Indy's Defeat

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Indianapolis Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Wednesday night, but the Columbus Clippers scored six unanswered runs to roll to the 6-3 victory. The Clippers have emerged victorious in the first two games of the series.

The Indians (59-51) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Christopher Bostick started the game with his 28th double of the season, and he scored on a two-out single by Joey Terdoslavich . A single by Edwin Espinal and two walks later loaded the bases, and Elias Diaz drew a walk to force the second run of the inning home.

Tribe starter Clay Holmes was one strike away from retiring the side in order in the bottom of the first, but the game was stopped due to rain. After a 58-minute delay, Holmes did not resume the game.

The lead for Indy expanded to 3-0 in the fourth. Gift Ngoepe led off the frame with a triple, and scored on Erich Weiss ' single to right field.

Columbus (58-51) erased the deficit and took the lead in the fifth. Adam Moore began the rally with a solo home run. After a single by Yandy Diaz that scored a run, Tyler Naquin belted a two-run home run to push Columbus in front, 4-3.

The Clippers added one run in both the seventh and eighth frames, both on sacrifice flies.

Tyler Eppler (6-7) took the loss for the Indians after resuming the game for Holmes. Timely hitting proved to be an issue in the loss for Indianapolis, as the Tribe was just 3-13 with runners in scoring position.

Chris Narveson (5-6) endured a rough start to get the win for Columbus.

The Indians will look to avoid the sweep on Thursday night; first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on Fox Sports 97.5 FM / 1260 AM WNDE. Drew Hutchison (6-6, 3.82) will be on the mound for the Tribe.
