AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers surrendered five runs in the first three innings of Wednesday night's contest at Mercy Health Stadium as they fell to the Schaumburg Boomers, 13-2.

The loss for the Crushers (17-24) is their second straight in a row at home following a four game home winning streak, while the victory for the Boomers (18-21) marks their first series victory since May 31.

Schaumburg plated a pair of runs in the first inning to take the lead and never looked back. Chase Dawson started the two out rally with a triple to left field that scored William Salas. After Julio Vivas (1-6) hit Clint Hardy with a pitch, Brett Milazzo capped the inning with a RBI single to right field.

The Boomers added two more in the top of the second. Nick Oddo started the inning with a single to left and made his way to third on Alec Craig's base hit. Thomas DeBonville walked to load the bases for Salas. Salas reached on a fielder's choice which scored Oddo. An error on the play allowed Craig to come around and score as well.

Craig struck again for the Boomers in the top of the third with a RBI single to left to score Oddo, and the Boomers plated another run in the top of the sixth on Dawson's two out RBI single to left.

The Boomers added three more in the eighth inning and removed any doubt in the ninth, when newly acquired outfielder Jordan Wiley hit a grand slam to give the Boomers a 13-2 lead.

Lake Erie's two runs came on Kenen Irizarry's two run homer to right field in the eighth inning, his seventh of the season.

Blake Stelzer (2-2) picked up the win for the Boomers, allowing just a pair of runs on three hits while fanning seven batters in eight innings of work. Vivas took the loss after allowing five runs, four earned on seven hits through five innings.

Jackson Valera singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, while Connor Owings went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to six games.

The Crushers will finish their three game series with the Schaumburg Boomers at Mercy Health Stadium on Thursday night. Lefty Gunnar Kines (0-0, 3.97) will get the start for the Crushers. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
