Early Goals Pace La Fiera Win

HIDALGO, Texas - Six goals in the first quarter paced Hidalgo La Fiera over Saltillo Rancho Seco by a final score of 15-3 on Sunday night at the State Farm Arena.

The victory for La Fiera (11-2) gives them a three-way share of first place of the Central Division of the PASL standings. Hidalgo is two of four teams in the PASL to remain undefeated at home with a record of 60.

Hidalgo got on the board first in the first quarter when Damian Garcia netted home an Angel Sanchez pass to make 1-0

Erick Flores padded the lead to 2-0 when he took advantage of a disposed pass and a one-on-one against the goal keeper. Edgar Flores increased the lead for La Fiera as he slotted home a pass from Garcia on a breakaway chance and made it 3-0.

Juan Antonio Vargas made it 4-0 on a cross pass from Robson De Souza pass which gave him his 11th assist of the season.

However, it would be Armando Teran that provided a hat-trick to lead all scorers for Hidalgo in which his first gave them a 5-0 lead.

Hidalgo would add goals in the first quarter from Joel Perez on a De Souza pass and made it 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Hidalgo would add three in the 2nd quarter to make it 9-0 at the break. A power play goal by Teran in third quarter gave them a 10-0 lead. Another goal by Flores pushed it to 11-0 to before Saltillo responded.

Rancho Seco (5-8) scored three times in the third quarter including a power play goal by Jesus Nava that made it 11-3. Hidalgo would score four more times to end the scoring including the goal for Teran that gave him his hat-trick.

Brownsville Goal keeper Juan Gamboa notched win number 11 of the season while making two saves for La Fiera. La Fiera went 1-of-2 on the power play.

Hidalgo La Fiera will culminate a three game home stand on Thursday, February 6th when they host the Texas Strikers at State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 11:05 am.
