Hidalgo La Fiera Defeat Oxford City In High Scoring Game
HIDALGO, Texas - Hidalgo La Fiera bounced back with a narrow victory over Oxford City of Texas by final score of 9-7 on Sunday evening at State Farm Arena which featured six lead changes.
Oxford City (3-3) took an early 1-0 lead Lucas Totti slotted home a Rico Keeling pass with the first minute of play. Texas added a second goal a minute later when Gonzalo Munoz made it 2-0.
Hidalgo (3-2) got a goal back when Juan Antonio Vargas scored on a Robson De Souza pass to make it a 2-1 game. Jose Perez tied the game at two in the 1st quarter.
Oxford City would regain the lead on a Totti giving them 3-2 lead. Hidalgo would turn the game around when Hugo Jofre and Vargas gave them a 4-3 lead after one quarter. .
Texas would regain the once again in the second quarter when Damian Garcia and Munoz potting goals giving them a 5-4 lead.
La Fiera would regain the lead again when Perez and De Souza tallied the goals giving them a 6-5 lead. The Perez goal was a power play which tied the game at five.
Oxford City gained the lead going into break the when Munoz and Angelo Sanchez netted for Texas giving them a 7-6 at the break.
Hidalgo would score three second half goals which included a brace and a power play goal from Jorge Duran which gave them a 9-7 win.
Brownsville native, Juan Gamboa (3-2) earned the victory for La Fiera while making 8 saves.
Hidalgo La Fiera will a pair of road games at Dallas and Saltillo on December 6th and 12th respectively before coming home on Sunday, December 14th to face Oxford City Texas at State Farm Arena with the kickoff at 3:00 pm.
Hidalgo La Fiera are members of the Major Arena Soccer League with 23 teams located across the United States and Mexico.
