Detroit Waza Focuses On Finishing

January 26, 2014 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Waza Flo News Release

With only four games left to go in the regular season, Dominic Scicluna, Detroit WAZA FLO Head Coach knew what his message was Saturday night before the game, "We need to win out to get in on top. That gets us a bye week, and a playoff game coming to Detroit."

The message was heard by his team. With a scoreless first quarter, the teams battled for possession to keep control of the game. "If we held Cincinnati to a few goals, we knew we had a good chance to win, " stated Scicluna after the game. "They are a big physical team, and we needed to defend strong to get the win."

WAZA FLO got on the board with a great goal by Victor Otieno with two minutes left in the half, and it helped their momentum. The offense turned it on in the third quarter with goals by Costea Decu, Aaron Byrd, Ricardo Lopes and Miki Djerisilo. Cincy also netted a goal making it 5-1 after three quarters.

Byrd got his second of the game just two minutes into the fourth quarter for a strong five goal lead. Cincy countered by putting an extra attacker on to get two late goals, making the final score, 6-3 Detroit WAZA FLO.

The next home game is Saturday, February 1 vs Cleveland at 7:05 p.m. The arena is located at 4300 S Dearborn St, Melvindale, MI.
