ALTOONA, PA - Early errors led to four unearned first inning runs for Connecticut and the Defenders won the rubber match of the three game series defeating Altoona 6-4 Sunday night at Blair County Ballpark.

After an error on the first batter of the game, Defenders OF Eddy Martinez-Esteve singled home two runs and then Mike Mooney doubled home two more all coming with two outs to give Curve starter Daniel Moskos four unearned runs right out of the gates. The Defenders added another run in the second when Brett Pill snuck home from third during a run-down at second base to put Connecticut up 5-0.

The Curve got back into the ballgame in the second inning when third baseman Hector Gimenez jacked a three run homer off of Daryl Maday (3-2). The home run gives Gimenez six on the season placing him second on the team.

Jonel Pacheco brought the Curve within one run with an RBI double in the eighth to score Gorkys Hernandez. Pacheco has now reached base in each of his last 11 games and claimed the team lead in RBIs with 33 to go along with his team leading seven home runs.

Moskos (4-6) finished the night allowing seven hits and just one earned run in five innings of work for the loss.

The Curve are now on the road for a three game road trip at Erie starting Tuesday June, 23. First pitch is schedule for 7:05 p.m. at Jerry Uht Park in Erie with radio coverage starting at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
