
Eagles Trade Garrett Larson to Youngstown

WINDSOR, CO- The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League made a trade Thursday that will send left wing Garrett Larson and future considerations to the Youngstown SteelHounds for the rights to defenseman Paul Esdale.
Larson played his rookie season with the Eagles last year and had 22 goals and 25 assists for the Governors' Cup champs. He finished third among all rookies in scoring and fifth on the Eagles team with 47 points. The Park River, North Dakota native had 10 points with the Eagles this season on three goals and seven assists in 32 games played. He will head to Youngstown who is currently in third place in the Northeast Division just two points behind the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
"It is always hard to trade a player but knowing that Garrett is going to be in Youngstown in a good situation eases the burden," said Eagles Vice President and Head Coach Chris Stewart. "With the potential of a player of Esdale's caliber being able to join us prior to the playoffs makes it very exciting."
In return for Larson and future considerations, the Eagles acquired the rights to former SteelHounds defenseman Paul Esdale who played the first 21 games of the season for Youngstown but decided to head overseas to play. He is currently playing with Moskitos Essen in Germany. Prior to heading to Germany, Esdale had 26 points for the SteelHounds on seven goals and 19 assists. He was slated to play in last night's All-Star Game however was replaced after leaving. He was the CHL Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 with Wichita finishing regular season with 22 goals and 47 assists with 93 PIM's.
