Eagles Sign All-Star Defenseman Peto

August 4, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today that they have signed All-Star defenseman Kyle Peto. In his first season in the CHL last year -- his fourth as a pro -- Peto was named a member of the South Texas team in the CHL All-Star Game and finished the 2009-10 campaign as the third-highest scoring defenseman in the CHL behind only veterans Aaron Schneekloth and Derek Landmesser.

After playing in three different leagues in his first three seasons upon leaving Minnesota State University-Mankato -- highlighted by an ECHL championship in his rookie year with the Idaho Steelheads -- Peto set career highs in 2009-10 with the now-defunct Corpus Christy IceRays. In addition to an All-Star Game performance that saw him register three points (tied for the second-most in the game) and a +4 plus/minus rating (the best in the game), the 6-foot, 190-pound d-man finished the season with 46 points (13-33-46) -- 26 of them coming on the power play.

"Kyle is a sold two-way defenseman who has a history of excelling on the power play," said Colorado Eagles head coach Chris Stewart. "In addition to adding depth to our blue line, we think he'll fit nicely into the style of play we like to employ."

The puck drops on the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, Oct. 15. Tickets for all Eagles home games played at the Budweiser Events Center -- including the Oct. 9 preseason game -- will go on sale Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased by visiting the BEC Box Office, calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or online at www.ComcastTix.com.
