Cape Breton Eagles News Release

The Cape Breton Eagles have announced Sunday forward Lubos Stahon has been released from the club.

The Slovakian-born Stahon was drafted by the Eagles during the 2023 CHL Import Draft this past summer, and recently represented his home county at the 2023 World Junior 'A' Challenge in Truro in December.

The 18-year-old winger was one of two imported players on the Eagles roster this season along with goaltender Jakub Milota.

Through Canadian Hockey League rules, each team can only obtain no more than two imported players on their roster at one time.

On Saturday, the Eagles acquired Czech defenceman Tomas Cibulka from Val-d'Or who will fill the second import spot on the Eagles roster moving forward this season.

The club has also announced forward Thomas Bégin has cleared waivers and is now available to sign as a free agent.

19-year-old Bégin was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens this past summer and has played 29 games with the Eagles this season.
