LOVELAND, CO. - The Colorado Eagles 17-game win streak reach a conclusion in a 4-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday. The annual "Pot of Gold Game" proved to be a major success, however, as the Eagles, their corporate partners and fans raised $53,233 for 13 year-old Chelbi Holt, a Northern Colorado girl who is now battling cancer for the second time in her young life. All of the money raised will go directly to Chelbi and her family to help offset the mounting medical costs of her treatment.

For the third straight contest, South Carolina would notch the game's first goal, as forward Rob Flick fired a shot from the slot on a 5-on-3 power play, beating Eagles goalie Kent Simpson and giving the Stingrays the 1-0 edge just 5:35 into the contest.

South Carolina would stay on a 5-on-4 power play and once again capitalize, when forward Scott Tanski stuffed home a rebound on top of the crease to stretch the Stingrays lead to 2-0 at the 6:42 mark of the first period.

After a scoreless second period that saw the Stingrays outshoot the Eagles 6-4, South Carolina would again light the lamp when Flick smacked a bouncing puck in the crease into the back of the net to make it a 3-0 advantage at the 12:02 mark of the third period.

The Eagles would finally jump on the board when forward Luke Salazar buried his 25th goal of the season on the power play to cut the Stingrays lead to 3-1 with 5:48 left in regulation. Colorado would pull Simpson in favor of the extra attacker, but would surrender an empty-net goal to forward John Parker at the 19:53 mark to seal the Stingrays 4-1 victory.

The Eagles finished the night going 1-for-5 on the power play, while South Carolina notched three goals on seven opportunities on the man-advantage. Simpson took the loss in net, stopping 16 of 19 shots, while Milner notched the win by turning aside 29 of Colorado's 30 shots in the contest.

The Eagles continue their eight-game home stand when they face the Alaska Aces on Wednesday, March 8th at 7:05pm MT at the Budweiser Events Center.

Season tickets for the 2017-18 season can now be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468). A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
