Published on March 29, 2024 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Cape Breton Eagles News Release
For the first time in seven years, the Cape Breton Eagles will open the playoffs on home ice, and there will be a big crowd on hand as they host the Rimouski Océanic in game one of their first-round playoff matchup. It's only the second time these teams have met in the post-season, with RImouski emerging victorious in round two in 2019. But this time, it's the Eagles who have home ice and they come into the playoffs on the league's longest winning streak, at nine games. While the Eagles are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, Cape Breton held the fourth best record in the entire league in post trade period play. Rimouski will not be backing down, as both teams posting a 12-8 record in the final 20 games. It should be a physical series as well, with both teams possessing size and heavy hitters.
Eagles fans are encouraged to wear white for tonight's game as the Eagles are aiming to white out the rink in support of the team. Here's what else you need to know ahead of tonight's opening game!
