Eagles Complete Sweep of Aces with 4-1 Win Sunday

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Colorado scored twice on the power play and Clarke Saunders stymied the Alaska offense with 33 saves as the Eagles completed a three-game sweep of the homestanding Aces 4-1 Sunday at the Sullivan Arena.

The win was Colorado's 12th in a row, a season high for the club, and longest streak so far this season in the ECHL. The Eagles edged the Aces Friday 4-3 and won Saturday 6-2.

The Eagles power play struck in the first period at 13:10 on a goal by Shawn St-Amant. Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Luke Salazar assisted.

Alaska outshot Colorado 15-10 in the period.

In the second period, Jackson Houck continued his hot weekend hand with another power play tally at 12:07. Houck had a hat trick Saturday night. Michael Sdao popped in a shot past Aces goaltender Kevin Carr at 13:59, chasing Carr in favor of Michael Garteig.

Alaska's shot advantage was 20-15 after two periods, but Colorado led the game 3-0.

The Aces got on the board at 15:15 of the third period as Pavel Laplante scored his 4th goal of the season from Tim Coffman and Ryan Trenz.

The final margin of victory was realized at 19:48 when Ryan Harrison swiped the puck into an empty net to make it 4-1.

The Aces dominated in shots on goal, 34-19.

Power plays favored Colorado. The Eagles were 2-4 with the man-advantage, while the Aces went 0-4.

The Aces are off until Thursday when they play at Elmira.
