Idaho Steelheads News Release
West Valley, UT (2/20/17) - Landon Bow made 43 saves to earn his first professional shutout and Kellan Lain scored the game's only goal, as the Idaho Steelheads (29-17-7) completed a three-game sweep of the Utah Grizzlies (25-22-5) with a 1-0 win on Monday afternoon at Maverik Center. The win was Idaho's fourth in a row, matching their longest winning streak this season.
It was a goaltending duel throughout, with Utah's Kevin Boyle also stopping 32 of 33 shots. The lone goal to get behind Boyle came at 3:07 of the second period when Lain buried a rebound for his tenth goal of the season. The Grizzlies failed to clear the puck from high in their own zone, instead putting a puck right on the tape of Corbin Baldwin. Baldwin saw Connor Chatham undefended in the low slot, zipping a pass down low. Chatham's initial shot was stopped, but Lain was there for the finish.
It was Lain's third game back from a 12-game absence, but his fourth goal and ninth point in his last nine games played.
The Steelheads had multiple chances in the opening period, with Anthony Luciani getting two breakaway opportunities and Rob Linsmayer getting two chances in close on 2-on-1 rushes. The Steelheads had two shorthanded breakaways as well, with Brian Nugent and Andre Morrissette both turned away by Boyle.
Bow did some of his best work in the second period, when he stopped all 19 shots he faced. One of Bow's best sequences came late in the middle frame when he stopped a close-range shot from Utah's leading scorer Erik Bradford. The rebound came to the side of the net for Mathieu Aubin, but Bow rolled to the post and stopped both stuff in attempts without his stick.
Bow's 43 saves were his most in a game this season, improving his record to 12-1-1 in his last 14 ECHL starts.
The Steelheads will continue their season-long eight-game road trip next Friday when they make their first ever visit to Missouri for a two-game set with the Mavericks. Puck-drop is scheduled for 6:30pm MT with the game available on 1350 KTIK and on ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME:
Landon Bow was under fire for much of the second period, and his three-save sequence against Erik Bradford and Mathieu Aubin helped to preserve Idaho's 1-0 lead. Bow was without a stick and sprawled in the crease when Aubin tried twice to stuff the puck over the goal line, but Bow's desperation lunge against the far post while on his back kept the puck out.
