Walleye Notes

A Midwestern sweep: A three in three weekend went all for the Walleye as they took back to back games in Wichita (4-1 Friday and 3-2 Saturday). A hard fought Sunday tilt at Missouri also went to Toledo 4-1 on the strength of Dane Walters three point night (1G, 2A).

In the Spinks we trust: Brothers Tylor and Tyson Spink each scored a goal in the wins over Wichita. It was the sixth and the seventh time over the year that both have found pay dirt in the same game. Toledo's record in those contests is 6-0-1 this season.

Count them up: Evan Rankin collected an assist on the first goal of the game Friday and then scored two minutes later to become the first Walleye player to reach 200 points in his Toledo career. Rankin is the Walleye all-time leader in goals (106) and he also 95 assists. He also the Walleye career leader in points.

Kings of the road: The three win weekend pushed Toledo to an ECHL best 21 road wins. That is just three wins behind the Walleye record road win pace set back in 2014-15 season (24).

A home weekend ahead: Toledo returns home to the Huntington Center for a three in three weekend featuring back to back tilts against the Wheeling Nailers Friday and Saturday night. Toledo is 3-3-1 against the Nailers so far this season. On Sunday the Indy Fuel will make their first appearance of the season in Toledo. The Walleye defeated Indy 4-1 January 20 in Indianapolis in the first meeting in the year.

Playoff Tickets on Sale: The Toledo Walleye are closing in on clinching a postseason berth for the pursuit of being crowned ECHL champions and hoisting the Kelly Cup this Spring! Playoff tickets will go on sale Friday, February 24 at 9 a.m. at the Huntington Center box office, online or by calling 419-725-9255.

Hall of Fame weekend: The second Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame class will be inducted on Saturday as the main highlight of the weekend with the luncheon starting at 2:30 p.m. A special pregame ceremony including a banner raising will take place prior to the game against Wheeling. Sunday features a "Paw-peroni Patrol" pizza party pregame and a special visit from Chase and Marshall from the cutout Madison.

Walleye Player of the Week:

Tyson Spink (3 goals - 3 assists 6 points)

Walleye Goaltender of the Week:

Jake Paterson (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .938 save %)
