Eagles Come Back to Beat Fort Worth in Overtime

FORT WORTH, TX- The Colorado Eagles used the third period to come back for the second straight game and beat the Fort Worth Brahmas 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Erik Adams scored the game winning goal only 13 seconds into the extra frame to give the Eagles their league-leading 21st win of the season and extend their lead in the Northwest Division standings. Colorado's former goaltender Chris Davidson started in net for the Brahmas holding Colorado scoreless after two periods, but gave up two goals in the third period and one in overtime in the loss to his former team.

Colorado out shot Fort Worth in the first period 7-5 but was unable to convert either of their power play opportunities. The Brahmas were not able to convert on their solo man advantage of the first period.

Bret Dececco gave the Brahmas a 1-0 lead early in the second period on a power play goal, his team-leading 16th goal of the season. That goal came at the 4:18 mark of the period and proved to be the only one of the second period.

Fort Worth took a two-goal lead only 22 seconds into the third period on another power play goal by Wes Mason. Colorado did not give up and got on the board with a power play goal by Sean Robertson at the 13:14 mark of the period cutting the lead to 2-1. Just over two minutes later, Greg Pankewicz easily tapped in a rebound and tied the game for Colorado with under five minutes remaining in regulation. The goal was Pankewicz's team-leading 18th goal of the season and forced the game into overtime.

Colorado made quick work in the overtime frame as Erik Adams to a great pass from Ryan Tobler and beat Davidson for the game-winner only 13 seconds into the extra frame. It marked the second straight game that the Eagles were losing after two periods and came back to win the game, they are 4-5-0 this season when losing after two periods proving that they never give up. Paulo Colaiacovo made 30 of 32 saves for his league-leading 15th victory of the season.

The Eagles come back home for a game on Friday, December 30 against the Youngstown SteelHounds. They will then travel to Amarillo the following night to take on the Gorillas on New Year's Eve.
